Hi Bloomers!

I hope you’ve all been doing well, enjoying these warm and… Not so warm days of spring!

As my seedlings continue to grow inside their cozy little tent, this year I’ve ‘branched’ out and am trying my hand at something a little more substantial in my garden!

You guessed it, an apple tree! And a honeycrisp apple tree at that.

We have had a quince bush in our front yard for many years (it came with out house) and it has done well year after year with little to no assistance from us.

Early this spring while out shopping with a friend at 8pm, we happened upon these fruit trees and I was convinced I could produce my own apples! Even if it would take a few years to produce fruit (after doing a little bit of research, apple trees grow their first fruits typically in their 3rd year of life) since I didn’t know the age of this tree.

Fast forward to tonight, and we have our first Blooms!

These Blooms make me feel optimistic about the possibility of having some home grown apples this year! And in the coming years perhaps enough to make some apple jelly.

While this tree may wind up being simple a pretty addition to our yard, I love experimenting in the garden and seeing what thrives here and what I need to help thrive and survive here.

Stay tuned for some apple updates and this tree continues to bud and bloom!

Catch yah’ later Buds!
